The Tamil Nadu Housing Board provides affordable housing schemes and home loan schemes in Tamil Nadu.
It extends these schemes to people of all income groups: the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS),
Lower Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG), and even the Higher Income Group (HIG).
TNHB is also involved in the construction of commercial spaces, complexes and schools. As per the scheme guidelines,
plots are reserved for certain categories such as defence personnel and government servants.
The TNHB housing scheme was launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu so that its residents could own good quality budget-friendly homes. Moreover, this scheme also functions as a type of home loan scheme for its properties within the state.
TNHB sells plots and properties all across the state at much lower rates as compared to their market value. This enables residents to purchase a property within their budget and also avail of a home loan.
Applicants can check the TNHB official website for information. Following are the eligibility details required to avail of the benefits of the TNHB scheme:
Applicants need to submit some legal documents when applying for the TNHB housing scheme. These include:
Applicants need to complete the registration process before applying for the TNHB scheme. After registration,
they will receive their username and password, which are necessary for checking the allotment details on the portal.
Visit the TNHB official website and download the scheme application form available online. TNHB also places advertisements in newspapers inviting applications for allotment of the plots and properties.
The application form must be submitted with the Demand Draft before the due date at the TNHB city division or Mofussil unit.
If the number of TNHB housing scheme applications received by the TNHB exceeds the number of units available for allotment,
a "draw of the lot" is held in the presence of all the candidates, who have applied for the scheme.
Thereafter, all the applicants whose names feature in the allotment draw will now be considered beneficiaries of the TNHB housing scheme.
