The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 is a government initiative aimed at achieving "Housing for All" in urban India. This phase continues to focus on providing affordable housing solutions. The operational guidelines of PMAY Urban 2.0 outline its goals, components, and implementation strategy to address housing challenges in urban areas. 

Objectives of PMAY Urban 2.0

  1. Affordable Housing for All: Ensure that every urban household has access to affordable housing with essential amenities. 
  2. Inclusivity: Provide housing benefits to economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG). 
  3. Sustainability: Promote eco-friendly and disaster-resilient construction techniques. 

Eligibility Criteria for PMAY Urban 2.0 

  • Income Groups: 
    • EWS: Annual income up to ₹3 lakh. 
    • LIG: Annual income between ₹3 lakh and ₹6 lakh. 
    • MIG: Annual income between ₹6 lakh and ₹18 lakh. 
  • Property Ownership: Applicants or their family members must not own a pucca house in any part of India. 
  • Aadhaar Requirement: All applicants must provide Aadhaar-linked identification for verification. 
  • Female Ownership: Homes must be registered in the name of a female family member or jointly with her spouse, barring exceptional cases.
